Conditions we treat

Personality Disorders

Personality disorders are long-standing patterns of thinking, feeling and relating to others that cause distress or problems in relationships, work or daily life.

What it can look like

  • Intense or unstable relationships
  • Strong emotions that are hard to manage
  • Patterns that repeat across many situations
  • Difficulty with self-image or sense of identity
  • Impulsive behavior

Only a qualified clinician can make a diagnosis. Many of these experiences overlap with other conditions.

How we help

Treatment is collaborative and often long-term. Psychotherapy is the foundation of care, and medication may help with specific symptoms such as mood, anxiety or impulsivity.

All care at EKM Psychiatry is delivered by secure telehealth across New York.
