Conditions we treat
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) involves unwanted, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) done to relieve the distress they cause.
What it can look like
- Intrusive, unwanted thoughts, images or urges
- Repeated checking, cleaning, counting or arranging
- Needing things to feel “just right”
- Mental rituals such as repeating phrases or reviewing
- Spending a lot of time on obsessions or compulsions
Only a qualified clinician can make a diagnosis. Many of these experiences overlap with other conditions.
How we help
OCD is highly treatable. Evidence-based care often combines medication with therapy such as exposure and response prevention (ERP). Your provider will help you decide what approach is right for you.
