Conditions we treat

Dementia

Dementia is a decline in memory and thinking that is serious enough to interfere with daily life. Psychiatric care can help with the mood, sleep and behavioral changes that often come with it.

What it can look like

  • Memory loss that disrupts daily life
  • Confusion about time or place
  • Trouble with planning or familiar tasks
  • Changes in mood, personality or behavior
  • Sleep problems, agitation or anxiety

Only a qualified clinician can make a diagnosis. Many of these experiences overlap with other conditions.

How we help

We evaluate and treat the psychiatric symptoms of dementia — such as depression, anxiety, agitation and sleep problems — and work with families and other providers on a coordinated plan.

All care at EKM Psychiatry is delivered by secure telehealth across New York.
