Conditions we treat

Insomnia

Insomnia is ongoing trouble falling asleep, staying asleep or waking too early, leaving you tired and affecting how you feel and function during the day.

What it can look like

  • Trouble falling or staying asleep
  • Waking up too early and not getting back to sleep
  • Daytime tiredness, irritability or poor concentration
  • Worrying about sleep

Only a qualified clinician can make a diagnosis. Many of these experiences overlap with other conditions.

How we help

We look for what is driving the sleep problem — including anxiety, depression, medications and habits — and treat the underlying causes. Options include behavioral strategies such as CBT for insomnia and, when appropriate, medication.

All care at EKM Psychiatry is delivered by secure telehealth across New York.
