Short-term disability documentation requires active treatment participation and adequate clinical support. Please read the information below carefully before contacting us.
What is short-term disability?
Short-term disability (STD) is an insurance benefit that may provide partial income replacement when a medical or psychiatric condition interferes with your ability to work. Decisions regarding eligibility, approval, benefit amount, and duration of leave are made entirely by your employer, disability carrier, or leave administrator.
EKM Psychiatry does not determine whether a patient qualifies for disability benefits. Our role is limited to providing clinical documentation based on your treatment and medical record at this practice. Submission of paperwork does not guarantee approval of your claim.
Recommendations regarding work absence or functional limitations are based on independent clinical judgment and documented clinical findings. Initial STD documentation generally covers a period of no more than 30 days. Extensions are evaluated individually and are not automatically approved.
